Idea:

Create an interactive tradeshow item to encourage spectator involvement by replicating a ring toss game… then taking it to the next level.

Reality:

We began with the simple concept of a ring toss game as a way for Miller Electric to attract people to their tradeshow booth. The ring was replaced with welding helmets and the targets were replaced with hands outfitted with welding gloves. To increase the degree of difficulty, linear actuators moved the hands in and out in a random sequence providing a challenge for those willing to take a toss. The project covered a range of capabilities including woodworking, metal fabricating, painting and electrical.
