Our Story
Concept Works Inc. began in 1984 as Sheboygan County Woodworking Inc., producing wooden craft items and curio cabinetry sold through advertisements in mail order magazines. The original founder, Rick Entringer, developed his wood-crafting skills through working for his father (George) at Woodcraft, Inc. in Sheboygan, Wisconsin. When George retired in 1984, Rick ventured out by starting a business of his own in a tiny rental space in the back of a truck terminal. In 1985, the business location moved to its present address just outside of Howards Grove, Wisconsin.
At that time, the business was a two-man operation, and grew to fourteen employees by 1995 with the primary focus of production shifting from craft items to point-of-purchase displays. The construction of these displays included acrylic fabrication, electrical and plumbing work, painting, silk-screening and vinyl graphics. Business held steady with fourteen employees until October of 2004 when Rick and his wife Sandi sold the business to pursue retirement.
Today, Concept Works Inc. currently has eighteen employees. Their primary focus is on the fabrication of advertising/marketing displays and tradeshow items. While maintaining this focus, the company has expanded to provide engineering services in the design aspects of our work. The company now employs two full-time mechanical engineers who hold bachelor's degrees in engineering. Display work now has the capability of incorporating working pumps, motors, and linear actuation. In addition, stress/strain analysis can be completed and solid-modeling capabilities are utilized to ensure a robust design before anything is physically constructed.
